This Here shows real information about any place in the United States — search an address, drop a pin, or use your current location to see facts about people, housing, weather, nature, and history, all sourced directly from public government data.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to allow location access?
No. Location is entirely optional. You can search for or drop a pin on any address, city, or ZIP code, and the app works exactly the same way — GPS is only used if you specifically tap “Use current location.”
Why is a card empty for my location?
Some information genuinely isn’t available everywhere. A number of U.S. counties have too few residents or monitored data points for certain statistics to be reported, and some locations — like airports, large parks, or bodies of water — have special Census Bureau designations with little or no population data at all. When this happens, This Here explains why directly on the card rather than leaving it blank without context.
How do I compare a location to my home?
Tap “Change” at the top of the app to open the map picker, choose a location, and tap “Set location as Home.” Many cards will then show a “Home” comparison option alongside whatever location you’re currently viewing.
Is This Here free? Does it show ads?
This Here is free to use, with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Where does the data come from?
This Here doesn’t run its own database — it looks up your chosen location directly in public sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau, the EPA, the CDC, the National Park Service, and others. See our Privacy Policy for the complete list and how your information is handled.
